About Our Ingredients:

1. Water (Aqua) allows all the following ingredients to flow and function optimally. Ours is ultra-purified.
2. Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oleosomes is our secret, not-so-secret, special ingredient. These naturally occurring microspheres deliver potent vitamin E and plant seed nutrients directly to the skin. Ours are derived from the Safflower plant and provide both immediate and and 24-hour moisture with a clean, non-greasy, matte finish.
3. Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate is a wonderful organic compound that is partly derived from grapes. It is a skin conditioner and exceptionally emollient (having the quality of softening or soothing skin). We also use it as a humectant (moisture retaining properties) and for its natural anti-inflammatory properties.
4. Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil is the edible oil from the fruit of the avocado tree, which is also called an Alligator Pear. Found throughout the world’s supermarkets, we use the avocado oil’s regenerative and moisturizing properties. Interestingly, avocado oil is one of the few vegetable oils that is not made from the seed, but the fleshy pulp surrounding the pit.
5. Jojoba Esters, pronounced “ho-ho-ba,” is derived from the seed of Simmondsia Chinensis, which is a shrub that is native to the deserts of California, Arizona and Mexico. Used for centuries by Native Americans for its healing and moisturizing properties, it is a vital skin conditioner in our formula. Jojoba is unique because of its molecular structure, which is quite similar to the natural “oils” produced by the human skin. Without getting too technical, Jojoba is an extremely long, straight, chain wax ester, not a triglyceride, like most vegetable oils.
6. Hydroxyethyl Urea is derived from petroleum, and can be thought of as an effective alternative to petroleum jelly and glycerin, which we find to be tacky, greasy and be shiny. Primarily a moisturize enhancing agent but also offers antibacterial benefits.
7. Pentylene Glycol like Hydroxethyl Urea, is an organic compound made from petroleum. Allowing the skin to retain moisture longer, this ingredient is used as a skin conditioner and humectant.
8. Algae Extract is part of our costly and potent “Triple-A Complex.” It is a botanical ingredient derived from particular species of Algae that are uniquely rich in amino acids, polypeptides, cell membrane carbohydrates, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It conditions and hydrates the skin while it nourishes, rejuvenates, and detoxifies.
9. Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris) Extract is also part of our costly and potent “Triple-A Complex.” Combined with the Algae Extracts, they all offer powerful, dramatic natural anti-inflammatory properties and start to heal the skin immediately on application. Over time, this extract will also reduce redness and improve the tone and consistency of delicate facial skin. In spite of its almost comic name, it is a serious ingredient dating back to ancient, traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine.
10. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice is derived from the plant commonly known as Aloe Vera which has been used for hundreds of years for its medicinal properties, namely wound-healing and soothing skin inflammation.
11. Xanthan Gum is a created by fermenting sugars and is a popularly found in items at the local grocery store. We use it primarily as an emulsifier but it also has some skin conditioning properties as well.
12. Allantoin is derived from the Comfrey plant and is a widely accepted emollient and skin conditioner.
13. Polyacrylate 13 & Polyisobutene are vegetable based emulsifiers used to provide a soothing consistency.
14. Polysorbate 20 is derived from sorbitol, which is found in various berries and fruits or prepared synthetically and used as a flavoring agent and a sugar substitute for people with diabetes. Polysorbate 20 is useful in our formula because it is a good humectant as well as a solubilizer (makes other ingredients more soluble).
15. Caprylohydroxamic Acid is a natural antioxidant derived from grain. We use it because it is highly anti-bacterial and keeps the product from spoiling.
16. Phenoxyethanol & Methylpropanediol are organic chemical compounds that help in moisture retention but are used mainly because they prevent or retard microbial growth.
17. Farnesol & Linalool are naturally occurring alcohols commonly found in many essential oils and extracts. Both are used in homeopathy to for their calming abilities. They are also used in this formula for their antibacterial properties.
